Dicaeum cruentatum (Linnaeus, 1758)

Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker, Dicaeum cruentatum, is a passerine of the flowerpecker family found across the Oriental Region from the Himalayas to Sumatra and Borneo. It lives in subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests, wooded places and gardens, and has been recorded up to 1000 m. The male is marked by navy blue upperparts and a vivid red line running from the crown to the tail coverts. The female and juvenile are mainly olive green. It builds a pouch-like nest high in a tree, suspended from a branch and entered from the side.
