Shikra, Tachyspiza badia, is a bird of prey in the Accipitridae family that breeds across Africa and the Oriental Region, with a range that also reaches southern Palearctic areas. It is widespread in these regions and was formerly placed in Accipiter. The African forms have sometimes been treated as a separate species, though they are usually kept as subspecies of the shikra. It is also known as the little banded goshawk. It is similar in appearance and, to some extent, in behaviour to several other hawks, including the Chinese sparrowhawk, Eurasian goshawk and Eurasian sparrowhawk.
