Slate-colored Boubou, Laniarius funebris, is a bird of the Malaconotidae family that breeds from c Ethiopia and Somalia to Uganda and c Tanzania. It was described by Hartlaub in 1863. The species is known from dry forest, dry savanna, dry shrubland and moist shrubland. Adults are wholly dark slate grey, with males and females looking much alike. Young birds show a barred pattern of tawny brown and black. It lays 2–3 eggs in a nest placed in a shrub or tree about 1.5 m above the ground.
