Niltava sumatrana
The Sumatran Niltava is a small passerine bird found in the forests of Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula. It is known for its distinctive blue and black plumage, with the males having a striking blue upper body and black head, while the females have a more subdued brownish-gray plumage. These birds are typically found in the lower and middle levels of the forest, where they forage for insects and small fruits. Their melodious calls can often be heard echoing through the dense foliage. The Sumatran Niltava is not currently considered to be at risk, but deforestation and habitat loss are potential threats to its long-term survival.
