Myophonus melanurus
The Sunda Whistling-Thrush, also known as the Javan Whistling-Thrush, is a medium-sized bird found in the forests and montane areas of Java, Bali, and Sumatra. It has a distinctive whistling call and is known for its melodious song. This species is primarily insectivorous, foraging on the forest floor and in the understorey. It is characterized by its dark plumage with a contrasting white belly and distinctive white markings on the wings. The Sunda Whistling-Thrush plays an important role in forest ecosystems as a seed disperser and insect predator.
