Tamaulipas Pygmy Owl, Glaucidium sanchezi, is an owl of the Strigidae family found in northeastern Mexico, where it breeds in the mountains of the north of Hidalgo and the southeast of San Luis Potosí. It lives in moist evergreen forest, montane forest and cloud forest, and is tied to subtropical or tropical moist montane woodland. It is one of the world’s smallest owls, with adults measuring 13 to 16 cm and weighing about 53 g. The species was described by Lowery & Newman, RJ, 1949.
