Trilling Gnatwren, Ramphocaenus melanurus, is a passerine in the gnatcatcher family that breeds from south Mexico through Middle America and into South America, including Amazonia. It was named by Vieillot in 1819. The bird is a very small species with a long, slender bill and a short tail that is often held raised. It lives in the undergrowth and among vines in dry forest and secondary woodland. Its range also reaches Peru, Brazil and Trinidad.
