Variegated Fairywren, Malurus lamberti, is a passerine of the Maluridae family found in south-east Queensland to south-east New South Wales in south-eastern Australia. It lives in scrubby cover east of the Great Dividing Range. The breeding male has chestnut shoulders and an azure crown and ear coverts, which set it apart from non-breeding males, females and juveniles, whose plumage is mainly grey-brown. Females of two subspecies are different again, with mostly blue-grey plumage. The species was described by Vigors and Horsfield in 1827.
