Tyrannidae — Tyrant Flycatchers, Calyptura

Venezuelan Bristle Tyrant, Pogonotriccus venezuelanus, is a passerine in the Tyrannidae family that breeds in northern Venezuela. It is found in humid montane forest, especially mossy cloudforest, in two separate mountain areas: the coastal ranges from Carabobo through Aragua to the Federal District, and the inland mountains of southern Aragua and Miranda. It was first described by Berlepsch in 1907. The species is resident all year and is monotypic. Its range is small, and it is considered fairly common, with records from at least one national park and probably other protected areas.
