Vernal Hanging Parrot, Loriculus vernalis, is a resident breeder in eastern India, through south-east Asia, to the Andaman Islands. It is a hanging parrot of the Oriental Region and is found in dry jungle and cultivated areas. A distinguishing feature is its mainly green plumage, with the adult male showing a red rump and bill and a blue throat patch, while the female has a green patch. It nests in tree holes and lays 2-4 white eggs. Outside the breeding season it is usually seen in small groups.
