Vinaceous-breasted Amazon, Amazona vinacea, breeds in South America from Paraguay to south-eastern Brazil. It is a parrot in the family Psittacidae, and its range is broken into scattered pockets. The bird is closely tied to the Atlantic Forest, where it uses a range of wooded and open settings, but it is most often linked with mixed forest containing paraná pine. It also occurs in small forest fragments, secondary growth, plantations, grassland with trees, and near settlements. Its nesting depends on tree cavities, and competition for those sites is a feature of its breeding life.
