Western Crested Guineafowl, Guttera verreauxi, is a guineafowl of Africa, breeding from Guinea-Bissau through north-west Cameroon and west Kenya to Zambia and Angola. It lives in open forest, woodland and forest-savanna mosaics. Its most obvious feature is the black crest on the head, which helps set it apart from other guineafowl, apart from the plumed guineafowl. It was once treated as part of a single crested guineafowl complex, but is now recognised as one of three separate species.
