Western Hooded Pitta

Pitta sordida (Müller, PLS, 1776)

Western Hooded Pitta, Pitta sordida, is a passerine of the Pittidae family found across the Oriental Region and Australasia, from the Himalayas to south-eastern China, Indonesia, the Malay Peninsula, the Greater Sundas and the Philippines. It occurs in eastern and south-eastern Asia and maritime south-east Asia, using a range of forest types as well as plantations and other cultivated land. It is marked by a green body, a black head and a chestnut crown. It breeds from February to August, with both adults sharing incubation and care of the young.
