Sitta neumayer Michahelles, 1830
Western Rock Nuthatch, Sitta neumayer, is a passerine of the south-western Palearctic, breeding from Croatia east through Greece and Turkey to Iran. It is a bird of bare rocky places, especially in mountains, and those at the highest elevations may shift to lower ground in winter. It is a resident species apart from some movement after breeding. Compared with most of its relatives, it has longer legs and a longer bill, along with the usual large nuthatch head, short tail, strong bill and sturdy feet.
