Whiskered Wren, Pheugopedius mystacalis, is a bird of north-west South America, recorded from Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. It belongs to the wren family, Troglodytidae, and was first described by Sclater in 1860. It lives in dense undergrowth at the edges of humid forest and in regenerating clearings, rather than in the forest interior. Its range is mainly between 1,200 and 2,400 m, though it can occur as high as 2,800 m and in Ecuador almost at sea level. It has eight recognised subspecies.
