White-browed Meadowlark, Leistes superciliaris, is a passerine of South America, breeding from north Bolivia and south-west Brazil to Argentina and Uruguay, with also eastern Brazil. It is an open-country bird of grasslands, pasture and cultivated land, and the male is marked by a bright white brow. It was once called the white-browed blackbird, but it is not closely allied to the red-winged blackbird group. The species is a small icterid and is closely related to the red-breasted meadowlark. It has gained ground as forests have been cleared and ranching has spread.
