White-eared Puffbird, Nystalus chacuru, is a bird of central and eastern South America, breeding in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Peru. It belongs to the Bucconidae family and was described by Vieillot in 1816. It lives in dry and moist forests, gallery forest, savanna and heavily altered former woodland. The bird has a round, bulky form with a short tail, a large head and an orange bill with a black tip. A white ear patch set within darker facial markings is its most striking feature. Two subspecies are recognised.
