Itinerary
Day 1
Dry Forest, Condor Viewpoint and Anta Wetlands
Chonta

The Cusco Condors tour begins at 5:00 am, with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco and a 1.5-hour drive toward Limatambo. Guided by expert local birdwatching guides, we take a detour onto an unpaved road to make a strategic stop in the Andean dry forest a rare ecosystem that offers chances to spot the impressive White-eared Puffbird, one of the highlights for any birder visiting Peru. Around 9:00 am, we arrive at the visitor checkpoint, where we register and take a short break before continuing with a brief drive of about 1.5 km to the trailhead. After distributing the box lunch, we begin a gentle hike toward the Condor viewpoint. Along the way, we explore high Andean ecosystems, home to fascinating Cusco endemic birds such as the Rusty-fronted Canastero, Creamy-crested Spinetail, and Apurímac Brushfinch. The early morning light and mountain scenery make this part of the journey especially rewarding for birdwatchers. Between 10:30 am and 2:00 pm, we dedicate time to observing Andean Condor and other highland birds from the canyon viewpoint. While enjoying your box lunch, you'll be surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. With patience and a bit of luckyou may witness the majestic flight of the Andean Condor gliding effortlessly through the mountain air, a truly unforgettable sight. In the afternoon, around 2:30 pm, we begin our return journey to Cusco, making a stop at the Anta wetlands for additional birdwatching opportunities and the chance to observe shorebirds and migratory species such as Puna Ibis, Andean Gulls, Ducks , Teals, Coots and much more… We arrive back in Cusco after our Condor Tour at approximately 6:00 pm, carrying unforgettable memories from one of the most complete birdwatching tours in the Andes, a perfect combination of spectacular landscapes, endemic species, and the awe-inspiring presence of the Condors of Cusco
