Pelagodroma marina (Latham, 1790)

White-faced Storm Petrel, Pelagodroma marina, breeds on islands in the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans, including the Salvage, Canary and Cape Verde islands, the Tristan da Cunha group with Gough, and southern Australian islets and the New Zealand region. Outside the breeding season it ranges into subtropical waters in the North and South Atlantic, the north-western and tropical Indian Ocean as far as Seychelles, and the south-east Pacific. It is a small seabird in the Oceanitidae family, and its white face with a black eye mask is a key feature.
