Departing from Sandspit near Warkworth, this full-day pelagic enters the Hauraki Gulf with a team closely associated with the rediscovery of New Zealand Storm Petrel. The boat works productive offshore water rather than following a rigid circuit, allowing the leaders to respond to sea state and current seabird movement.

New Zealand Storm Petrel is the central focus. The stated supporting possibilities include Cook’s Petrel, Black Petrel, Common Diving Petrel, White-faced Storm Petrel and Buller’s, Fluttering and Little Shearwaters. Grey-faced Petrel is seasonal from roughly October to December, while Grey Noddy becomes a possibility from mid-to-late November onward.

Trips are linked to the longer Wrybill tour schedule and are subject to safe operating weather. The day may be cancelled or adjusted when offshore conditions are unsuitable. No species or encounter is guaranteed, and non-avian marine wildlife is treated as incidental unless the charter has the required permit.
