Charadrius marginatus (Vieillot, 1818)

White-fronted Plover, Charadrius marginatus, is a plover of coastal and inland Sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar. It occurs across sandy beaches, dunes, mudflats, and the banks of rivers and lakes. Its breeding range is widespread in Africa, and it is placed in the family Charadriidae within the order Charadriiformes. It is recognised by its white fore crown and the dark bands running from the eyes to the bill, giving it a close resemblance to the Kentish plover. It was described by Vieillot in 1818.
