The White-fronted Plover (Purnella albifrons) is a small shorebird found in coastal areas of southern Africa. It is characterized by its white forehead and distinctive black breast band. These plovers are highly territorial and can often be seen running along the water's edge in search of small invertebrates. They are known for their sharp, melodious calls and agile movements. White-fronted Plovers are monogamous and build shallow scrapes in sandy or gravelly areas for nesting. They are vulnerable to disturbances from human activities and habitat loss.
