Xolmis irupero

The White Monjita is a small, striking bird found in open grasslands and savannas of South America. It is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with a white body and black wings and tail. This species is often observed perched on fence posts or wires, where it scans the ground for insects and small vertebrates. The White Monjita is a vocal bird, often emitting a sharp, high-pitched call. It is a highly agile flier, capable of catching insects on the wing. Although not currently considered threatened, the White Monjita faces habitat loss and fragmentation due to agricultural expansion in its range.
