Ceibas Road Birding Tour
A full-day Buenos Aires to Ceibas birding outing for savanna, thorn forest, grassland, reedbed and riverside forest species.
About this tour
Ceibas Road is Diego Gallegos' full-day savanna-style route north of Buenos Aires, about 160 km from downtown.
The official habitat description includes scattered grassland and thorny forest, reedbeds and riverside humid forest.
Miles of dirt roads allow easy birding by alternating walking, driving and spotting from the car. Diego describes the area as markedly birdy, with abundant individuals and activity even in midday and across seasons.
Bird groups mentioned include raptors, herons, storks, woodpeckers, furnariids, tyrants, finches, blackbirds, tanagers and saltators. A shorter Southern Entre Rios option and a relaxed two-day version with farm-lodge overnight can also be discussed.
