White-necked Rockfowl, Picathartes gymnocephalus, is a passerine of rocky forested country in West Africa, from southern Guinea and Sierra Leone to Ghana. It is linked to higher ground and is often found near streams and inselbergs. The bird has a long neck and tail, with greyish-black upperparts and white underparts. Its head is almost bare, with bright yellow skin and two black patches behind the eyes. It is usually silent. It moves by hopping, bounding and short flights, and it nests on rock faces, often in caves.
