White-necked Rockfowl, also called White-necked Picathartes, is the principal focus, with time devoted to forest trails, riverside habitats and the open country around Grafton. The itinerary combines walking with a creek boat trip rather than staying in one birding area throughout.
Guma Valley Dam is the first day's base for birding. A midday stop takes you to the beach at River Number Two before you return to forest habitat later in the day. The afternoon program includes a visit to a picathartes breeding colony, followed by the return to your hotel for the evening. The emphasis is on looking for the birds in their habitat; a visit does not guarantee a sighting.
On the second day, an early boat journey follows River Number Two's winding creek. A wildlife-trail walk adds another opportunity to search the area, with a boxed-lunch stop along the way. Evening observation follows the Tokeh road before returning to River Number Two. Day 1

Leave Freetown at 07:30 and spend the day exploring birding areas around Guma Valley Dam. Pause for lunch at the River Number Two beach, then head back into the forest for the late-afternoon picathartes colony visit. Return to your hotel before the evening meal.
Day 2
River Number Two by boat and on foot
Begin early with a boat ride along the winding creek of River Number Two, followed by a walk on the wildlife trail. The program allows for a boxed-lunch stop during the outing. Continue birding along the Tokeh road toward evening, returning to River Number Two for the evening meal.
Day 3
Regent forest, Congo Dam and Grafton
Devote the day to birding in Regent forest around Congo Dam, with a boxed-lunch stop. Move on to the Grafton plains for late-afternoon observation. Finish the outing back at your hotel in time for dinner.
