White-throated Canary

White-throated Canary, Crithagra albogularis, is a finch in the family Fringillidae found in south-western and southern Africa, including Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa. It was described by Smith in 1833. It lives in subtropical or tropical dry shrubland and in subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland. The species was once placed in Serinus, but later work moved it to Crithagra after that genus was shown to be polyphyletic. Male and female birds look alike, and juveniles are similar to adults.
