Yellow-browed Warbler

Phylloscopus inornatus

The Yellow-browed Warbler is a small, active songbird with a distinctive yellow stripe above the eye, giving it its name. This species breeds in the taiga and boreal forests of Siberia and northern Mongolia, and migrates to Southeast Asia for the winter. It is known for its high-pitched, insect-like song and its acrobatic foraging behavior as it searches for insects and spiders in the tree canopy. Despite its small size, the Yellow-browed Warbler is a long-distance migrant, traveling thousands of kilometers each year. It is a delightful and sought-after bird for birdwatchers due to its striking appearance and elusive nature.
