It is known for its lively, undulating flight and its characteristic habit of wagging its tail. This migratory bird breeds in open, grassy areas and wetlands across Europe and Asia, and winters in sub-Saharan Africa. It is often found near water, such as rivers, lakes, and marshes. The Yellow Wagtail feeds on insects and other small invertebrates, foraging on the ground or catching prey in mid-air.
