About this tour
Cross seasonally flooded savannas, gallery forest and Amazonian foothills in search of two of Bolivia’s defining birding experiences: the endemic Blue-throated Macaw and the exceptional diversity of Madidi National Park.
After birding around Trinidad and the Gran Moxos landscape, travel to Rurrenabaque and spend three full days at community-managed Sadiri Lodge, with access to both foothill and lowland Amazon forest.

Itinerary
Day 1
Santa Cruz and flight to Trinidad
Bird the Viru Viru Airport savannas, fly to Trinidad and finish in gallery forest around Puerto Ballivian.
Day 2
Blue-throated Macaw quest
Spend the day in native grasslands, palm islands and lagoons searching for Blue-throated Macaw and savanna specialties.
Day 3
Llanos de Moxos transfer
Travel overland to Rurrenabaque with roadside stops for wetland, grassland and macaw birding.
Day 4
Rurrenabaque to Sadiri Lodge
Bird the flooded savanna en route, then enter the Madidi foothills and settle at Sadiri Lodge.
Day 5
Sadiri foothill forest
Full-day guided birding on foothill rainforest trails around the lodge.
Day 6
Madidi foothills
Continue through foothill habitats, following current mixed-flock activity and target priorities.
Day 7
Amazon lowland forest
Reach lower Amazon forest near the lodge for a complementary group of forest species.
Day 8
Return to Santa Cruz
Travel back to Trinidad for the flight to Santa Cruz, with short opportunistic birding stops if time allows.
