Travel before dawn from Santa Cruz to Refugio Los Volcanes, a rainforest lodge in the biodiverse southeastern sector of Amboro National Park.
Birding is on foot across a broad trail system where Northern and Southern Yungas influences meet. Walk length and difficulty can be adjusted, with the three-day format allowing time for both local specialties and mixed forest flocks.

Itinerary
Day 1
Santa Cruz to Refugio Los Volcanes
Depart before dawn, travel into southeastern Amboro National Park and begin birding the rainforest trails after arrival.
Day 2
Full day in the Yungas transition forest
Spend a full day on lodge trails, adjusting the walking route to the group and current bird activity.
Day 3
Final forest birding and return
Use the morning for remaining targets, then return to Santa Cruz after lunch.
