About this tour
This eight-day circuit links three private Atlantic Forest sites in São Paulo state: Sítio Espinheiro Negro, Legado das Águas and Trilha dos Tucanos. The first lodge introduces the region through fruit feeders, hummingbird stations, woodland trails and hides. The route then moves to Legado das Águas for several days along forest roads and deeper woodland, before finishing with a full birding session at Trilha dos Tucanos.
The varied observation settings suit both birders and photographers. Potential species cited by the operator range from Blond-crested Woodpecker, Festive Coquette and Red-breasted Toucan to tinamous, antbirds, owls, manakins and tanagers. More than 450 species have been recorded across the wider area, but the listing does not promise a total or any individual sighting. Itinerary
Day 1
São Paulo to Sítio Espinheiro Negro
Meet in São Paulo and travel to the first forest lodge for an introductory birding session at the feeders.
Day 2
Forest trails and hides
Spend two days using trails, fruit feeders, hummingbird stations and hides to watch and photograph Atlantic Forest birds.
Day 4
Transfer to Legado das Águas
Take a final feeder session before moving to Legado das Águas and beginning afternoon birding along forest roads.
Day 5
Legado das Águas
Use three full days for birding and photography on the reserve’s road and trail network, covering forest edge and interior habitats.
Day 8
Trilha dos Tucanos and return
Finish with feeder, trail and hummingbird activity at Trilha dos Tucanos, then return to São Paulo.
