Blackstrap Lake Birdwatching and Bird Photography Tour – 3 hours with spectacular water birds
A three-hour self-drive tour of Blackstrap Lake and nearby prairie wetlands, using roadside stops for waterbirds, marsh species and photography.
About this tour
Explore Blackstrap Lake Provincial Park and surrounding wetlands on a guided driving circuit from Saskatoon. Deep-water viewpoints can produce diving ducks and pelicans, while shallow ponds and marsh edges support dabbling ducks, grebes, rails, wetland sparrows and blackbirds.
The guide chooses productive stops according to access, water levels and current bird activity and brings a spotting scope for distant waterbirds. Private outings can offer useful photography opportunities, but species, proximity and light are never guaranteed.
This easy, three-hour self-drive tour covers an estimated 120 kilometres from Saskatoon. Most birding is from the vehicle or at roadside stops, with less than one kilometre of optional level walking. Participants supply their own or rented vehicle.
