About this tour

Travel after dark on back roads from Saskatoon, stopping near woodland and wetland habitat to listen. Great Horned and Northern Saw-whet owls are among the possibilities, together with drumming Ruffed Grouse, calling Wilson's Snipe, frogs and coyotes.

The guide leads from stop to stop and helps interpret each sound. The programme is mainly vehicle-based with short walks on level ground, creating an easy-paced way to experience the nocturnal soundscape.

Choose the three-hour route outside Saskatoon or a four-hour option extending towards Nisbet Forest or the Eagle Hills. One private-tour window runs from March 20 through April 11; a second runs from May 1 through May 15. Wind, rain or poor road conditions can require postponement because distant sounds are harder to detect.
