About this tour
Travel along gravel back roads near Saskatoon to look for raptors in open country and well-treed areas. Possible sightings include eagles, Swainson's and Red-tailed hawks, vultures, harriers, kestrels and Merlins, with an outside chance of a less frequently encountered falcon.
The guide leads the route and helps participants compare shapes, flight styles and plumage variation. The convoy stops only where it is safe to view birds, and participants may use mobile phones to communicate between vehicles.
This easy outing lasts three hours and uses frequent roadside stops. Each party travels in one personal or rented vehicle. Private tours are available from April through September; sightings always depend on weather, season and movement.
