Falco peregrinus

The Peregrine Falcon is a magnificent bird of prey known for its incredible speed and aerial hunting prowess. With a wingspan of around 3.3 to 3.6 feet and a body length of 13 to 23 inches, this raptor is renowned for its striking stoop, where it dives at high speeds to catch its prey. Its distinctive dark head and back, white throat and underparts, and barred sides make it easily recognizable. Peregrine Falcons are adaptable birds, found in a variety of habitats including coastal cliffs, urban areas, and open landscapes. Due to pesticide use and habitat loss, the species faced a significant decline, but conservation efforts have led to a remarkable recovery. The IUCN status of the Peregrine Falcon is Least Concern.
