Meet at El Palacio de los Frijoles for an early birding session along approximately 3 km of unpaved road. The route is described as easy to access, with open sections that can make scanning, listening and following mixed activity more practical than on a closed forest trail.
The Beautiful Woodpecker, a Colombian endemic, gives the route its name and may be seen or heard in this area. Other species highlighted in Palmonte’s route material include White-mantled Barbet and Striolated Manakin. These are route possibilities rather than promised sightings, and the guide adjusts observation time to current activity.
