About this tour

The Musguerito route moves into cooler highland conditions near Cocorná. Beginning from the meeting point identified by Palmonte as Puente del Viaho, it follows approximately 2 km of easy-access trail with open sections inside a protected area.

At around 2,100 m, the route presents a different bird community from Palmonte’s warmer low-elevation experiences. Barred Becard is among the highlighted possibilities, together with Golden-winged Manakin and Rufous-crested Tanager. The route takes its name from the locally used term “musguerito gargantinaranja.”

The five-hour guided session emphasizes careful visual and sound identification, biodiversity interpretation and a record of birds actually encountered. Route timing and exact directions are confirmed after inquiry.
