About this tour
This Ecuador programme balances birding with a deliberate search for mammals. It begins west of Quito at Zuro Loma, Alambi, Sachatamia and Bellavista in the Chocó cloud forest. Two days in this region emphasize mammals without abandoning the area’s hummingbirds, tanagers, toucans and other birds.
A flight to Coca opens the Amazon section at Napo Wildlife Centre, where three full days cover rainforest trails, waterways and observation points in Yasuní. The route then returns west to Cabañas San Isidro in the Quijos Valley before climbing to Cayambe-Coca and Papallacta. Possible bird highlights include Scarlet Macaw, Toucan Barbet, Plate-billed Mountain-Toucan, mountain tanagers and owls; possible mammals include monkeys, giant otter, spectacled bear and mountain tapir. Every sighting remains uncertain. The tour ends with a Quito airport transfer, and current dates, inclusions and price are supplied on request.

Day 1
Arrive in Quito
Arrive in Quito and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2
Chocó cloud forest
Travel through Zuro Loma and Alambi to Sachatamia, then spend two further days searching for mammals and birds in the western cloud forest.
Day 5
Bellavista and Quito
Visit Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve before returning to Quito.
Day 6
Fly to Coca and Napo Wildlife Centre
Fly to Coca and continue by river into Yasuní and Napo Wildlife Centre.
Day 7
Yasuní exploration
Use three full days to explore rainforest habitats by trail, canoe and observation points.
Day 10
Coca to San Isidro
Return overland to the Quijos Valley and continue birding in subtropical forest around San Isidro.
Day 12
Cayambe-Coca and Papallacta
Climb toward high-Andean forest and páramo, with two days around Cayambe-Coca and Papallacta.
Day 14
Return to Quito airport
Take a final short nature walk before the departure transfer.
