About this tour
Spend a three-day photography weekend in the German Eifel with Leo Boon, concentrating on Red Kite and Eurasian Nutcracker. The compact format combines two nights in the Hellenthal or Erkensruhr area with field time planned around the birds and the available light.
Sessions may use forest edges, open country, roadside viewpoints or other suitable local sites. Leo adjusts the order and length of stops to weather, access and recent activity, allowing time for patient observation and photography rather than a rushed circuit.
The listed 2026 weekends run in September for groups of two to six and are priced at EUR 540 per person, with a EUR 120 single-room supplement where available. Guests use their own cars for field transport. Availability and the final payment schedule are checked for the selected weekend; private or tailor-made alternatives may also be possible.

Day 1
Arrival and first Eifel bird photography session
Arrive in the Eifel and meet Leo for the weekend plan. Depending on timing and conditions, use the first field session for nearby Red Kite or forest bird opportunities and a briefing on the next day's photography plan.
Day 2
Red Kite and Nutcracker photography
Spend the main full day working selected Eifel sites for Red Kite and Eurasian Nutcracker. The field plan is adjusted to light, bird activity and access, with time for observation and photography rather than rushing between locations.
Day 3
Final morning session and departure
Use the final morning for any remaining Red Kite, Nutcracker or forest bird opportunities before departure. Leo confirms the exact end time and route based on weather and guest travel plans.
