Travel from Port Blair to Great Nicobar on a private 15-day expedition organized by Beautiful Earth. The route combines South Andaman forest, wetlands and coastal habitats with a multi-day stay around Campbell Bay, where field sessions explore lowland rainforest, river corridors and megapode habitat.
The Great Nicobar sector uses scheduled passenger vessels and simple local accommodation. Birding focuses on island endemics and regional specialties such as Nicobar Megapode, Andaman Woodpecker, Andaman Crake, Andaman Teal and island owls, while the South Andaman days add Chidiya Tapu, Mount Manipur, Sippighat, Shoal Bay and other productive sites selected for current access and bird activity.
This is a demanding island journey with early starts, humid forest trails, nocturnal searches and extended open-ocean passages. The route, vessel timing and exact field sites may change with permits, weather and transport schedules. Private dates can be arranged for solo travelers, couples, families and small groups of up to eight participants.

Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Port Blair
Arrive at Veer Savarkar International Airport, meet the Beautiful Earth team and transfer to the confirmed Port Blair hotel. Use the remaining time for orientation and an introductory local birding session if the flight schedule allows.
Day 2
Chidiya Tapu forest and coast
Explore forest, mangrove and coastal habitats around Chidiya Tapu. Field plans follow current conditions and may include searches for Andaman endemics and a late-afternoon or nocturnal session.
Day 3
Board the vessel for Great Nicobar
Complete final preparations in Port Blair and board the scheduled passenger vessel for Great Nicobar. Accommodation is in the confirmed vessel cabin or berth for the overnight passage.
Day 4
Arrival at Campbell Bay
Arrive at Campbell Bay, complete local formalities and settle into the Great Nicobar base. Begin birding nearby rainforest edges and accessible coastal habitat as timing permits.
Day 5
Nicobar Megapode habitats
Visit suitable forest and coastal sites for Nicobar Megapode and other Great Nicobar specialties. The guide adapts the route to access, recent sightings and weather.
Day 6
Galathea River basin
Explore the Galathea River basin and surrounding lowland rainforest. Birding concentrates on river corridors, forest edges and habitat used by Nicobar specialties.
Day 7
Great Nicobar interior rainforest
Spend a full day in interior rainforest, using trails and clearings to search for canopy and understory birds. The humid conditions and dense vegetation can make this a demanding field day.
Day 8
Final Great Nicobar field day
Use the final Great Nicobar day for priority species and any productive areas missed earlier. Exact sites remain flexible around permits, transport and current bird activity.
Day 9
Return vessel to Port Blair
Board the scheduled vessel for the return passage to Port Blair. Birding from deck may be possible when conditions and vessel rules allow.
Day 10
Arrival back in Port Blair
Arrive back in Port Blair, transfer to the hotel and rest after the sea passage. A short local birding session may be added if the arrival schedule permits.
Day 11
Mount Manipur forest birding
Bird the forested slopes and viewpoints of Mount Manipur, formerly Mount Harriet, for Andaman endemics and other island forest species.
Day 12
Sippighat wetlands and nocturnal birding
Visit Sippighat and nearby wetlands for waterbirds, rails and open-country species. Continue after dark where access and conditions allow for owls, nightjars and other nocturnal birds.
Day 13
Shoal Bay and Ferrargunj
Explore Shoal Bay, Ferrargunj and selected surrounding habitats for forest, wetland and coastal birds, following the strongest current opportunities.
Day 14
Final South Andaman birding
Reserve the final South Andaman day for remaining endemic targets and a productive mix of forest, mangrove or coastal sites chosen by the guide.
Day 15
Departure from Port Blair
Transfer to Veer Savarkar International Airport for departure after breakfast, according to the confirmed flight schedule.
