Andaman Woodpecker, Dryocopus hodgei, is a woodpecker of the Andaman Islands in the Oriental Region, where it is confined to lowland rain forest. It was first described by Blyth in 1860. The bird is best recognised by its mostly slate-grey to black plumage and bright red crest, with the male also showing red on the crown and the area below the eye. It is separated from the white-bellied woodpecker by its different appearance and calls, and by genetic evidence.
