Sixteen-Day Birdwatching Journey in Kyrgyzstan
A sixteen-day small-group birding circuit through Bishkek, Ala-Archa, Lake Issyk-Kul, Kara-Kyz, Naryn and high-altitude Son-Kul.
About this tour
Cross Kyrgyzstan from the green spaces and mountain forests around Bishkek to Lake Issyk-Kul, the wooded Kara-Kyz Valley, Naryn and the high plateau of Son-Kul. The sixteen-day program has operated since 2007 and is designed around the country’s changing wetlands, semi-desert, forest and alpine habitats.
Travel is by minibus, with accommodation shared between a city hotel, guesthouses, yurts and local family stays. Field days range from bird reserves and lake shores to mountain passes above 3,000 metres. For groups of six or more, the published program includes a professional ornithologist and interpreter; smaller groups travel with a local guide.
Ecotour Kyrgyzstan also prepares individual departures for groups of friends. Exact dates, current availability, the guiding team, accommodation and any route adjustment are confirmed after a BirdWatch inquiry. Wild bird activity, weather, road conditions and local access can change the daily sequence.
