About this tour
Travel slowly through the mangrove channels and coastal wetlands of the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve on a boat reserved for your party. The route is built around birdwatching rather than a standard sightseeing circuit, giving guests time to observe and photograph herons, egrets, pelicans, flamingos and other estuary birds. The guide can adjust the search to your birding interests, although wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
Choose a three-hour introduction or a four-hour extended exploration. The longer option allows more time in quieter channels and farther parts of the estuary. Rio Lagartos Adventures advertises early-morning and afternoon departures, when light and bird activity are generally better. An English- and Spanish-speaking specialist guide, boat, drinks and light refreshments are included. The reserve entrance fee is paid separately.
