Endemic Birds of Northern Peru - 4 Days

Upon your arrival at Chiclayo airport, we will immediately transfer to the fantastic Bosque de Pómac National Sanctuary, where we will search for the endemic and very particular Peruvian Plantcutter, as well as other endemic birds of North Peru. The Lambayeque region is well known among Peruvians for offering some of the best regional cuisine in Peru, based on seafood, beans, pumpkins, and other ingredients that have been cultivated for over 5000 years. After a special lunch (not included), we will visit one of the best museums in Peru and the world: "The Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum" that offers one of the finest displays of pre-Columbian Peruvian art, highlighting the wealth of the Lord of Sipán, an ancient leader of the Mochica culture. After a journey through the history of northern Peru, we will have the rest of the afternoon free.

Full-day Chaparri Tour, a unique bird sanctuary. This is the first private conservation area in the country, where we will be able to search for endemic birds of North Peru at different altitudes of the Peruvian Dry Forest, and especially the White Winged Guan, a bird once thought extinct that now lives protected in this Private Conservation Area. In the evening, we will take the night bus to the equatorial city of Tumbes. The journey will take 7-8 hours in a very comfortable bus.

Upon our arrival in the warm northern city of Tumbes, the cradle of the Tumbesian endemic region, we will transfer to the selected hotel to leave our belongings. After a quick breakfast, we will continue to the Mangroves of Tumbes, a refuge for hundreds of birds that we will be able to observe from small boats in the middle of the water channels and the small mangrove islands. Lunch based on fish, seafood, and a Pisco Festival (not included). In the afternoon, we will visit the artificial lagoons of the hotel, large bodies of water that are the perfect home for extraordinary birds such as the Roseate Spoonbill, the Stork, and hundreds of ducks and of course other endemic birds of North Peru

Amotape National Park Full-day excursion to Cerros de Amotape National Park, a protected area where two unique ecosystems of Peru converge: The Tropical Forest and the Dry Forest. It will be a long day but offers the best opportunity to observe unique birds of Peru. At the end of our day, we will transfer to the airport in the city of Tumbes or the selected hotel.
