Bieszczady Autumn Tour 2026
Six days in the Bieszczady Mountains for Brown Bear, Wolf, Lynx, European Bison, Ural Owl and forest birds.
About this tour
This six-day tour explores the Bieszczady Mountains in the Eastern Carpathians of south-eastern Poland. The sparsely populated, heavily forested landscape is one of the country’s finest refuges for large mammals and mountain woodland birds.
Wildlife highlights
The tour uses dawn and dusk viewpoints, forest walks, meadow drives and occasional night outings to search for Brown Bear, Wolf, Lynx, European Bison, Wildcat, Beaver, Red Deer and Roe Deer. These are elusive wild animals, so sightings cannot be guaranteed, but field plans are adapted daily to fresh signs and current activity.
Birding continues throughout the mammal search, with White-backed, Grey-headed and Black Woodpeckers, Nutcracker, Dipper, Pygmy Owl and Ural Owl among the regional specialities.
Pace and terrain
Good fitness is required. Daily walks may reach 13 km with approximately 300–400 metres of elevation gain, sometimes on steep, narrow or muddy tracks. Early starts and late finishes are possible, and vehicle transfers connect the best wildlife areas.
