10-Day Albertine Rift Birds and Nature Tour in Rwanda

Upon arrival at the Kigali International Airport, our driver will drop you at the hotel in Kigali for dinner and briefing on the tour; accommodation at Chez Lando Hotel

After earlier breakfast, we drive to Nyungwe National park. We reach the prk around dinner time and by 3pm, we go for an afternoon birding. The target us Albertine Rift endemic birds including Regal Sunbird, Rwenzori Turaco, Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher; accommodation is at Nyungwe Top View Hills Hotel

After breakfast, we driver at Uwinka birding trails where the whole morning birding is organised to try Red-collared Mountain Babbler and other mountain species. After lunch, we resume our birding at 3pm until 6pm when we drive to the lodge for dinner and accommodation at Nyungwe Top View Hills Hotel

After the morning breakfast, we drive to Bweyeye trail for different species. We will discover a high number of Albertine Rift endemics and other attractive birds including Dusky Crimsonwing; and we stop for lunch Dinner. After lunch, you have the afternoon birding around Gisakura to see Kivu Ground Thrush, Great-blue Turaco, etc; at 6 we drive back to the lodge for dinner and accommodation (Nyungwe Top View Hills Hotel)

After an earlier breakfast, with our packed lunch we drive to Uwinka and have a half day birding to try the rare Dwarf Honeyguide, Handsome Frankolin and many more. After lunch, we drive to Kigali to arrive around dinner time; accommodation is arranged in a medium or budget lodge (Chez Lando Hotel)

After breakfast, we drive to wetlands of Bugesera to try papyrus birds mainly Papyrus Gonolek, Papyrus Canary, White-winged Swamp Warbler and Carruther’s Cisticola. After lunch, we drive to Akagera National Park and we reach the lodge on dinner time (Akagera Game Lodge).

We start our tour with registration at the park reception before we proceed to the safaris and bird-watching. We can see some of the African Big Five plus a variety of savannah birds like Red-faced and Crested Barbets. We break for lunch at the lodge ad at 4.30pm we have a sunset boat cruise to see flocks of waterbirds like Goliath Heron, Striated Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Rufous-bellied Heron, etc. We will also see crocodiles and hippopotamus; at 6pm we drive to the lodge for dinner and accommodation (Akagera Game Lodge)

After breakfast, we take off with our packed lunch from the south of the park and we go for our safaris towards the north. We target more game and wonders of Akagera i.e Giraffe, Topi, Buffaloes, etc; lunch is in the wild at Mihindi picnic area. After lunch, we continue our safaris and wildlife game drive towards the lodge in the north. After check in, we have a night game drive to try nocturnal birds i.e Square-tailed Nightjar and animals like lions, hyenas and Leopard; we return back at the lodge at 8pm and after dinner we go for accommodation (Karenge Bush Camp)

We start safaris and birding at 5.30am to meet the animals on the early morning hunting; we will also see the eary morning active birds. At 9am we drive back to the lodge for breakfast. At 10am, with our packed lunch, we have our birding and game drive as we are exiting the park to Volcanoes region. We reach the lodge around dinner time (Ingagi Park View Lodge).

Trekking Mountain gorillas is a lifetime experience not miss when you are in the region. Trekking starts with a registration at the park headquarters. After briefing and allocating to the gorillas group, we go for trekking. The visit goes until 1 to 2pm when we have a late lunch before we drive to the airport for evening flight; END
