About this tour

Discover the birds and varied habitats of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon on a private program designed around the season, local conditions and your interests. Gilles Gloaguen of Escapade Insulaire combines bird observation with an introduction to the archipelago's plants, landscapes, history and geology. Guiding is available in French and English.

Shorter outings on Saint-Pierre can be arranged as a half-day or a full day. The route may explore woodland for warblers and sparrows, visit coastal migration areas, or focus on seabirds and other seasonal priorities. Each plan allows time for unhurried observation and naturalist interpretation.

A shorebird trip on Miquelon-Langlade is a full-day outing. It can include the lagoon and coastal habitat around the Grand Barachois, where autumn migrants use the archipelago as a stopping point. The exact route and transfers depend on conditions and the agreed plan.

Spring and summer also offer seasonal seabird watching. Atlantic Puffins, Razorbills, Common Murres and Black-legged Kittiwakes breed on an islet off the northern side of Saint-Pierre, with the strongest period generally running from spring through mid-August. A boat-access segment is arranged only when conditions and the final plan allow it.

Gilles can design a multi-day stay combining birding, hiking and local history across Saint-Pierre and Miquelon-Langlade. These programs are best requested several months in advance so the route and local logistics can be planned together. A Northern Gannet extension in Newfoundland can be considered as an optional addition rather than a separate tour. It requires extra lead time for accommodation, boat tickets and vehicle arrangements. Sightings remain natural and cannot be guaranteed.
