About this tour
This 10-day Western Cape circuit stays within reach of Cape Town while sampling the peninsula, West Coast and Overberg. Fynbos, rocky mountain slopes, lagoon and shoreline habitats support many of the region’s endemic and near-endemic birds.
Cape Sugarbird, Cape Rockjumper, Cape Siskin and Orange-breasted Sunbird anchor the search. African Penguins, Blue Cranes, Black Harrier and coastal species complement the endemic focus, while Southern Right Whales may add a seasonal wildlife element and Cape food and wine follow selected birding days.

Itinerary
Day 1
Kirstenbosch and Cape Town fynbos
Open the tour in Cape Town with birding at Kirstenbosch and nearby fynbos. This provides an early introduction to the Cape’s distinctive plant zone and its associated birds.
Day 2
Cape Point and Boulders penguins
Explore the Cape Peninsula as far as Cape Point. Coastal scenery and peninsula birds are paired with the African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach.
Day 3
Langebaan Lagoon and West Coast wetlands
Move north for birding around Langebaan Lagoon and West Coast National Park. Waders, flamingos and regional dry-country birds broaden the Cape list.
Day 4
Overberg cranes and fynbos endemics
Work the Overberg and its fynbos habitats for Cape specialities and Blue Crane. Mammal observations, including seasonal whales where present, may supplement the birding.
Day 5
Cape Town return and departure window
Complete the circuit back in Cape Town. The final timing is planned around suitable evening flights.
