About this tour
Northern Doñana brings rice fields, natural wetlands, woodland and steppe-like country into a single birding day. More than 350 species have been recorded across the area during the year, and the changing habitat supports herons, raptors, waders, ducks, terns, storks and colourful songbirds.
Spring can produce mixed nesting groups of Night Heron, Glossy Ibis, Cattle Egret, Squacco Heron and Little Egret. Winter may bring large numbers of Greylag Geese, cranes and storks, while migration can add Marbled Teal and Temminck’s Stint. Spanish Imperial Eagle and other raptors remain important possibilities.
The landscape also supports Red and Fallow Deer, Wild Boar and mongoose. Iberian Lynx is possible only with exceptional luck and is never treated as an expected encounter.
