African Red-eyed Bulbul

Pycnonotus nigricans (Vieillot, 1818)

African Red-eyed Bulbul, Pycnonotus nigricans, is a bulbul found in south-western Africa, with its breeding range in south-western Angola, Namibia and Botswana, and western and central South Africa. It lives in dry savanna, dry shrubland in subtropical or tropical areas, and scrub along rivers. Its diet includes fruit, including Ficus, as well as flowers, nectar and insects. The species was first described by Vieillot in 1818. It is also known as the black-fronted bulbul.
